Install and Setup Process
There are Mozy mobile apps for both Android and iOS devices, but both look outdated and the app lagged when we tested it on a Google Pixel running Android 8.0. After logging in, the app takes you to the MyMozy page which shows two rows of off-center icons for Downloaded, Recent, Photos, Documents, Music, and Videos. The other tab, All Files, organize items into two categories, those stored in the sync folder and those uploaded through the regular backup process. You can access a contextual settings menu by tapping the three vertical circles on the right-most side of the bottom navigation bar. Mozy's web client does a good job of making multiple file versions available.
Mozy retains file versions for 90 days and offers up to 448-bit Blowfish security. That’s probably massive overkill for most users, but it’s nice to know it’s available. Mozy keeps up with the times by allowing you to back up the same data set to a local hard drive. Local backups restore far more quickly and give you the duplicate backup that should be part of any coherent backup strategy. We like that you can click on an icon for music, for example, and view all of those file types in your backup, regardless of where they are saved. Unfortunately, it first requires you to download video and audio files onto your device, before you can play them.
